Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan is a native of and brought up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam the mother of Jazmine is an ex-backing singer in the band Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her the job of curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved in to the historic iconic. She is a 2005 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was a vocal music major. Sullivan played the contralto member of the children's choir . Later after a couple of years later, she performed as an adult in the choir. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She recalls when she was in her 11th year when someone requested her to sing in a solo in church. She wasn't quite ready to go. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was selected to perform "Accept The Grace God Gives" during The show Showtime At the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. Stevie Wonder sang her part when he turned 13. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. When she was 15 she signed with Jive Records. They recorded an entire album there, but the album was never made available for release. Sullivan was then eliminated on the labels. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott she produced many of the tracks for her debut project, such as the brash single "Backstabbers" - produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
